Superior Catfish Cook Off

Calling All Cooks!

Win prizes in the first ever Superior Catfish Cook Off, October 4 in downtown Macon.

Bring your best Superior catfish recipe in fried, baked/broiled/blackened or appetizer and win prizes while having fun.

Set up begins at noon in downtown Macon with dishes due to judges by 6pm.

Drop your entry form (link here) and $25 registration fee off at the offices of Superior Catfish (11751 US-45, Macon, MS 39341) or the Noxubee Alliance (198 N Washington St, Macon, MS 39341).

Time: Set-up begins at 12:00 pm. (Must be completely set up by 3:00 pm) 

Entries must be at the Judges tent by 6:00 pm

RULES

1. All category entries must be cooked on site.  

2. Superior Catfish must be used. Three (3) pounds will be allotted for each entry at no cost to the participant.

Participants will be able to purchase additional fish at a reduced price for this event only. This offer is limited to the participant only. Participants are allowed to sell catfish and other food items at this event, at their discretion. 

You must note on your entry form if you wish to purchase additional fish and the number of pounds.

3. No late entries will be accepted, for any reason. 

4.  Each entry will be judged on 3 key evaluation criteria: 
Execution, Appearance and Taste.
The judges will give a score 1 (inedible) to 10 (excellent) for each criterion.

5. Contestants are responsible for their own tent, cooking equipment, ingredients, and cleaning supplies. (Including Water) 

6. Noxubee Alliance/Superior Catfish will provide a 10’ x 12’ space ONLY. You must provide all preparation, cooking and serving utensils and items.

7. Animals are NOT permitted on the cook-off grounds except for certified service animals.  

8. A Fire Extinguisher is required in each participating team cooking space.  Committee personnel will randomly inspect for extinguishers. A team found without an extinguisher will be disqualified.   

9. No VEHICLES will be allowed in the set-up area after 3:00 pm.  

10. ALL LOCAL CITY, NOXUBEE COUNTY, MS STATE & CDC GUIDELINES WILL BE FOLLOWED.

11. Superior Catfish reserves the right to publicize, promote and distribute the recipes or publicity materials for all entries and winning dishes and their respective cooks or teams.

12. The decision of judges is final.
