Fred Johnson’s Superior Catfish story began with cleaning catfish on the production floor. Before rising to the position of president, he worked in every department in the company. Superior Catfish’s $17 million expansion in 2019, which included adding 25 job opportunities, was a monumental career highlight. Fred now dedicates his time to the personal achievements of the people of Superior. “The personal success of our people means as much to me as the success of the company.” The importance of relationships is a guide post he lives by, a value he learned from his father. 

Brent Johnson grew up on a farm in rural Mississippi. He was drawn to the catfish industry at an early age, eventually starting his own catfish harvesting operation. He harvested nearly every pound of catfish delivered to Superior Catfish for 22 years, until 2007, when Brent began working as a production manager for Superior. He was later offered a job in sales, and has loved his current role from the start. “Sales is my passion, I love to help make the business grow and prosper.” Brent’s plans for the future include gaining recognition for Superior in the national food service and retail sector as the premium U.S.-farm-raised catfish product it already is.

Pam McKeel Jones earned her BS in Marketing from Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. After a brief time in Atlanta, she returned home to Mississippi. In 1990, Pam began working in the catfish industry as a customer service manager. She moved around within the industry until finally landing a position at Superior Catfish, knowing immediately that Superior is where she was supposed to be. Pam’s mother had encouraged her at a young age to work closely with the Mennonite community. “It’s an honor and a pleasure to sell for a company that you believe in.” Pam looks forward to her work every day and takes pride in knowing that every case of product is the same high quality that people have grown to love and demand.
